HoAPN

The Horn of Africa Pastoral Network (HoAPN) developed out of a number of regional initiatives that emerged to promote co-ordination, shared learning and a common voice in the promotion of pastoral policy advocacy and good practice.  Those involved realised that co-ordination needed to move beyond individual projects in order to effectively address the multiple barriers to pastoral development in the region. The network was started in 2009 by members of the ECHO RDD and USAID RELPA programs, and is currently co-ordinated by the ECHO funded REGLAP program under Resource Conflict Institute (RECONCILE).    The network is in process of consulting with relevant regional and national actors to develop it’s membership and mission and vision and work out how to best link to other networks and promote pastoral representation.  Meanwhile, it will initially focus on information sharing on policy and practice, and developing a common regional vision for pastoral policy in the region. The HoAPN shall produce an e-bulletin after every two month with focus on policies.  If you would like to receive the bulletin or have information, documents or upcoming events that you would like to share via the bulletin or website please contact: Santos Odhiambo: santos@reconcile-ea.org or Shadrack Omondi shadrack@reconcile-ea.org
